John B. Somerset Shield

Awarded for the most outstanding performance by a Youth Community Choir, 16 years and under

Sir James Aikins donated the John B. Somerset Shield to the Winnipeg Music Festival in 1927 in memory of John B. Somerset.  The shield was originally awarded for the most outstanding performance by a Children’s Choir, Open Class.  It is currently awarded for the most outstanding performance by a Youth Community Choir, 16 years and under.
